The Black & Decker Alligator Lopper
The Black & Decker Alligator Lopper is an 18 volt chainsaw that is cordless, using it’s clamping jaws along with powerful and fast cutting action, it is ideal for pruning branches on trees and cutting up fallen branches. Any branch or log up to 4 inches in diameter are cut with ease and in one simple motion, this makes your job much easier than if you were to use a manual lopper, handsaw or clippers.
There are tough metal guards which cover the jaws of the Black & Decker Alligator NLP1800. These are designed to protect the user from the cutting chain, the guards snap right back over the blades once cutting has been completed. There is also a 2 handed switch that prevents and accidental starting of the Alligator Chainsaw which is a good safety feature.
Another point worth mentioning here is that instead of the standard top to bottom cutting action that is found on a general chainsaw. The Black & Decker Alligator Lopper uses a side to side motion when cutting, this stops the cutting chain from being buried in the dirt as it cuts, which can often dull a regular chainsaw. It also has an auto tension for the chain that keeps cutting top notch.
Operation is via an 18 volt Ni-Cad battery which provides around 150 cuts per charge.

A customer review of the Black & Decker Alligator Lopper
I am a big fan of the B&D 18 volt line, I have the regular hedge trimmer, extended trimmer, pole saw, chainsaw and blower as well as a few more. I have been looking to get the Alligator cutter since it first came out, however it was corded which was the reason that I didn’t. To me cords are a hassle so I’d sooner do it by hand to save time.
I’m so happy to see that Black and Decker brought out a cordless version of the Alligator Lopper.
It works great and it solves one of what I consider to be the biggest problems of cutting limbs; and that is chopping them up into small lengths so that I can dispose of them. The cordless chainsaw that I have does a really good job of cutting the limb. But it’s when it is on the ground that the problem occurs, this however is where the Black & Decker Alligator Lopper is great. The protective cover keeps things from hitting the ground, this stops you from having to spend the time propping up limbs. You simply grab and cut.
The Black & Decker Alligator Lopper is also fantastic when it comes to cutting those thick, over grown bushes. It can handle thick stalks with ease that stop even the biggest hedge trimmers.
